Opposition Leader Aubrey Norton on Tuesday denied receiving any correspondence from the government regarding a nominee for the Local Content Advisory Council.
During an APNU press conference, Norton said that contrary to claims by the Minister of Natural Resources Vickram Bharrat, he never received a letter informing him that the opposition is required to nominate a person who would sit on the Local Content Advisory Council.
According to the government, the establishment of the Advisory Council is being held up because the opposition has refused to submit its nominee to sit on the council.
When responding to a question on what the opposition’s next step would be in this regard, Norton said, “When I receive a letter [from the Ministry of Natural Resources] I will deal with it,” he said.
