Devon Daziel, a 35-year-old minibus driver of Lot 68 Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo was yesterday charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Daziel was the driver of a minibus, BAB 1864, that struck down and killed Gaitree Sewsankar, a 37-year-old pedestrian on Zeeburg Public Road last Saturday. According to the Region 3 Commander, Assistant Commissioner Mahendra Siwnarine, Daziel appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court before her Magistrate Zamilla Ally-Seepaul where the charge was read to him.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison.
The matter was adjourned to January 18.
