Accused in CANU Charlestown drug bust sentenced and fined

Twenty-eight-year-old Javed Ragnauth, one of the four persons who were busted by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) earlier in this month was yesterday sentenced to 4 years and 6 months behind bars after he pleaded guilty to two narcotic charges.

Ragnauth of Lot 89 Smythe Street, Charlestown, Georgetown, was sentenced yesterday by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court when he made his appearance from the Lusignan Prison.
