Region #5 brushed aside Region #2 while Region #3 and Region #2 played to a stalemate in the ‘One Guyana President’s Cup’ Football Championships Monday.
Hosted at the National Track and Field Centre, Leonora, Region #5 crushed Region #2 by a 6-1 scoreline. Abumchi Benjamin led the rout with a hat-trick in the 78th, 89th and 90th+4 minute whilst Delroy Fraser bagged a brace in the 36th and 55th minute.
Adding a goal in the 52nd minute was Marc Galloway. For the losers, Shamar Dawson found the back of the net in the 42nd minute.
Meanwhile, Region #3 overcame a two goal deficit to draw 2-2. Roundel Hutson and Kobe Alexander scored in the 73rd and 81st minute respectively for Region #3 after Region #10 took the lead through Shane Luckie conversions in the 49th and 54th minute.
The semifinal section will commence today at the same venue. Region #4 will oppose Region #5 whilst Region #7 will lock horns with Region #3.
