A Corentyne man on Monday died by suicide, one year after his wife and baby passed away at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
Sunil Partab, 28, of Bloomfield Village, Corentyne leaves a child, parents and siblings to mourn him.
In October, 2021, Partab’s wife, Devi Samaroo, 24, was taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital for the birth of their second child. However, they were later informed that the woman had delivered a stillbirth. Shortly after that, they were informed that Samaroo had died at the hospital as well, a message which left all of them in a state of shock as they had no indication that there was any serious complication during the delivery.
Partab had told Stabroek News then that he was confused as his wife and his baby were both healthy during the pregnancy. There has been no update on what caused the death of his wife.
