A 30-year-old taxi driver of Tuschen has reported to the police that his car was stolen during an armed robbery on Tuesday.
The police said that the incident was reported to have occurred at about 2 am at Nismes, West Bank Demerara. Two robbers were said to have been involved.
During the robbery, the police said that the man was relieved of his vehicle, a silver Toyota Premio motorcar bearing Registration PXX 6084 (valued $2.9m); One Samsung Galaxy J7 (valued $40,000); one Nokia cellphone (valued $4000) and thirty thousand dollars cash.
Enquiries revealed that the victim, on the date mentioned, dropped off a passenger at the West Vybz Bar at Tuschen where he was approached by the two suspects who asked if he was working. He replied in the affirmative.
The suspects then requested to be taken to the Demerara Harbour Bridge. Upon reaching the location, the suspects asked to be taken to Nismes Village instead.
According to the victim, when he arrived at Nismes Village, one of the suspects exited the vehicle and the other choked him from behind and dealt him several cuffs to his face and head, during which he was relieved of the aforementioned vehicle and other articles.
The suspects subsequently fled in the car in a western direction.
