A Corriverton woman is now in police custody after she allegedly fatally stabbed her common law husband last evening.
Dead is Jason Bownath, 25, a labourer of Lot 66 Middle Street, Princetown, Corriverton. The suspect, 25, a housewife of the said address was arrested.
According to information gathered, the two were at the woman’s mother’s house when an argument ensued just around 11.50 pm.
Bownath reportedly slapped the woman twice during the argument at the location. The woman then left to head home and shortly after Bownath did the same.
Stabroek News was told that the argument then continued at the home where the man then slapped the woman again after which she allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed him once to the left side of his chest.
He was taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital and subsequently transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital. He later succumbed while receiving treatment.
