Dear Editor,
The Ministry of Education has a significant portion of the budget. This presents an opportunity to upgrade the safety features of the nation’s schools. Sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers and smoke detectors should be the new standard throughout the educational system from the nursery level to university. This will safeguard the children, teachers and infrastructure. The list of school fires continues to grow. We cannot afford to delay. It is only a matter of time before a serious tragedy occurs. We must act now and implement the necessary safeguards within our nation’s schools. The funds are available and should be used first and foremost for improving safety.
Sincerely,
Jamil Changlee
