Lawyers representing three El Dorado Security Service guards in relation to an incident near the Hard Rock Café at MovieTowne say that they have handed over a video to the police that exonerates their clients.
The incident on December 30th 2022 pertains to an Essequibo businessman who was dining that day at Hard Rock.
In a statement on Friday, January 6th, the law firm, 1966 Law said that they were acting on behalf of the El Dorado guards: Cleon Jack, Elijah Cosbert and Imran Khan. The law firm said that the guards were innocent of the offences for which they were arrested by the police on January 3rd 2023. They added that it was unfortunate that “unbalanced” versions of the incident have been reported by several publications which were not named in the statement. The statement said that a video of the incident had been compiled and handed over to the police.
“We have made the video that exonerates our clients available to the police and that video is also in the public domain. The videos circulating on social media clearly shows that our clients were not the aggressors in any event or any occurrence as alleged by the aforementioned media publications and we await the outcome of the police investigation. Our clients remain fully committed to assisting the police with their investigation”, the statement added.
The statement was signed by attorneys Sanjeev Datadin, Sase Gunraj, Dexter Todd, Everton Singh-Lammy and Brandon DeSantos.
In a statement on January 4th 2023, El Dorado Security Service said its investigation of the incident on December 30th near the Hard Rock Café suggested that there is a conspiracy to misrepresent facts.
In the release, El Dorado said it had taken note of various online reports that have cast aspersions on the actions of three of its employees on the night in question. El Dorado said that it does not condone unprofessional behaviour of any of its employees.
“We have conducted our own investigations and have cooperated fully with the Guyana Police Force in this regard. A high-level team was dispatched to the Commander of `A’ Division to share information with regards to the alleged incident and the Service has every reason to believe that under the Commander’s stewardship a fair and unbiased investigation will be conducted”, the release said.
El Dorado added that evidence collected by it and shared with the police suggests that there is a “conspiracy to misrepresent the facts to procure the wrongful arrest of our employees. In this regard, we have instructed our attorneys at law to leave no stone unturned to initiate legal proceedings against all such conspirators”.
The release was signed by Alvin Holladar, Chief Security Officer.
