Upper Berbice River farmer nabbed at roadblock with cannabis

An Upper Berbice River farmer has been arrested after he was found in possession of cannabis (marijuana) at a roadblock.

A Guyana Police Force release yesterday informed that Compton Allicock, a 58-year-old farmer of Unamco Junction, Upper Berbice River, was detained by ranks from the Ituni Police Station after he was allegedly nabbed at a roadblock with more than 2,000 grams of marijuana.

According to the release, the police at around 18:25 hrs Friday, were on a ‘stop and search’ exercise in front of the Ituni Police Station when they intercepted a white Toyota motorcar bearing registration PZZ 7500, driven by a 34-year-old electrician of Airy Hall, Mahaicony along with three passengers.
