A Corentyne man died on Tuesday evening after he was struck by a garbage truck along the Rose Hall Town, Corentyne Public Road.
Dead is Victor Alert, 34, of Martin Street, Rose Hall, Corentyne. The motor lorry, GZZ 4248 owned by Cevon’s Waste Management (Skip Bin Rental) was being driven by a 47-year-old man of Canefield Settlement, East Canje Berbice. The driver remains in custody as an investigation has been launched.
According to the information gathered, the truck was proceeding west along the southern drive lane along the Rose Hall Public Road when Alert suddenly ran across the road.
As a result of the collision, Alert fell on the southern lane and sustained injuries about his body. He was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
