The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) will continue to be led by Mahendra ‘Raj’ Boodhoo over the course of the next year following his re-election earlier this week at the GT Motorsports Hall, Thomas Lands and Albert Street location.
Along with Boodhoo, the Annual General Meeting saw his entire slate being elected unopposed and serving in their second term.
The other returning Executives are Mohamad Shairaz Roshandin (Vice-President), Azim Jaffar (Secretary), Chetram Singh (Treasurer), Azaad Hassan (Assistant Secretary/Treasurer), Rameez Mohamed (Club Captain), Joel Evans (Technical Adviser), along with Committee Members: Mark Vieira, Gavin Guyadin, Roshan Ali and John Chin.
A motion was moved to have Parmesar Accountants as the club’s auditors. Kit Nascimento served as the Returning Officer.
During his remarks, the GMR&SC boss said that 2022 was just a fraction of what is to come for motorsport, pointing to the recently extended and repaved South Dakota circuit. The Circuit has been transformed from 0.78 miles to 1.6 miles, putting Guyana in a position to host international standard racing. This forms part of the body’s vision to bring the Circuit up to an FIA Grade 2 track.
He added that during their short stint, they have managed to change the dynamics of the circuit and they plan to continue enhancing the sport throughout the 2023 year.
