According to a Guyana Police Force release, between 05:10 and 05:40 am yesterday, a detective sergeant accompanied by two other police ranks carried out a cordon and search exercise at Walcott’s home for drugs, guns and ammunition. On arrival, Walcott was contacted and the police sergeant told her that he had information that she has drugs at her home and as such, would like to carry out a search.
Walcott did not object to the search and invited the ranks into her home. The search was conducted in her presence and in the process a bulky black plastic bag was found on a table in the hall.
The plastic bag was opened in her presence and several transparent ziplock bags were seen which contained suspected cannabis. She was told of the offence committed and under caution she replied saying: “I selling da weed to mine meh three children.”
A further search was carried out in her bedroom where, in a clothes basket between some clothing, was discovered a transparent plastic bag containing several small, rocklike substances suspected to be cocaine.
She was told of the offence committed and under caution she again replied: “I selling da cocaine fuh mine meh children.”
She was arrested and escorted to La Parfaite Harmonie Police Station, along with the suspected cannabis and cocaine. At the station, and in her presence, the suspected cannabis was weighed and it amounted to 65 grammes, while the cocaine amounted to 9 grammes.
Walcott was placed into custody and is slated to be charged. She is scheduled to make her court appearance this week.
