A well-known boat captain in Region Two and a taxi driver are expected to be charged shortly for public misconduct after a Tik Tok video surfaced of the two of them fighting at the Supenaam stelling and falling overboard.
According to a police report, the incident occurred around 15.00 hours on Monday at the Supenaam stelling.
The taxi driver had dropped off his cousin to catch the speed boat at the stelling. The taxi driver then proceeded to the parking lot and was cleaning his car when he heard a commotion. Upon investigating he saw the boat captain with what appeared to be a piece of wood about to hit his cousin. He immediately intervened and a fight ensued.
It was while they were fighting that both men ended up in the Essequibo River. At the time of the incident, the boat captain had passengers in the boat and they began to panic. However, no passenger was injured.
Both men reported the matter to the police and both were subsequently arrested and place on station bail. They both received medical attention and are expected to be charged shortly for their public misconduct.
