Yesterday, at about 12:30hrs, a Sergeant and two other ranks were on mobile patrol in the vicinity of Turtle Creek, Upper Mazaruni River, when they observed an identifiable male sitting at a blue and white building, dressed in a black short pants and a long sleeve black sweater.
Upon seeing the ranks, the police said that the identifiable male ran towards some bushes and threw a black plastic bag into the bushes, after which he continued to run. He was pursued by the ranks but managed to evade apprehension.
The ranks then searched and found the black plastic bag and when they opened it, they found a Black ‘Tec-9’ Submachine Gun with a magazine.
The bag also contained another black plastic bag with fifty-five 9mm rounds of ammunition. The ranks are presently searching the area and adjoining backdam.
