Edward Skeete called “Pretty Boy”, who had several brushes with the law here, was shot dead yesterday in French Guiana.
Police here today confirmed with Stabroek News that they had received information from their counterparts in Cayenne confirming that Skeete had been gunned down around 12.54 hrs at Kasé Ko Street in Balata West (Matoury), French Guiana.
He was shot five times about his body including in his head.
The police were summoned and an investigation was launched.
Details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting remain unknown.
Skeete was well known to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) since he had been arrested and charged on several occasions.
In several of the incidents, he had been injured by bullets.
In December 2020, Skeete was shot twice after he was involved in a shootout with several men in James Street, Albouystown.
On August 2 of the same year, Skeete was one of five men wounded after a shooting incident at Magic City Lounge located in Garnett Street, Newtown. The shooting had claimed the life of taxi driver, Raymond Lindo.
Stabroek News had reported that Lindo, Skeete, and four other persons, entered a party uninvited. While at the club an argument ensued among the uninvited group over a young woman. This led to gunshots being fired inside the club.
In 2018 Skeete was acquitted of the murder of Ryan Clementson, who was shot near the Turning Point Snackette in Tucville, in July 2015. He was freed by Justice Navindra Singh who ruled that there was insufficient evidence to convict him for the killing of Clementson.
And on April 9, 2019, Skeete was also charged with shooting Zain Federson before robbing him of $900,000 in cash. On March 31, 2019, Federson was sitting in a Route 42 minibus, when he was attacked by Skeete and another man. Federson was shot once in the leg by Skeete, before the duo relieved him of the money.
