The Ministry of Local Government has resumed its paving of the median along the East Coast Highway. The earth that previously covered the median has been ripped up and replaced by sand in preparation for tiling.
Critics have said that green spaces are important and can be enhanced by flora. These spaces also provide absorptive capacity during periods of heavy rain. The tiling has been described as part of a national beautification project.
Green spaces have recently been concreted along the Lamaha Street canal from Irving Street going west.
