Ex-employee of Channel 9 charged with simple larceny

A former employee of Hoyte-Blackman TV, otherwise known as HBTV Channel 9, yesterday appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court where she was charged with simple larceny.

The charge against Edel Sears of Wortmanville, Georgetown, alleged that on January 16 at Lot BB Mandela Avenue, East La Penitence, Georgetown, while being employed as a clerk or servant at the Blackmans’ residence, she stole $154,000, property of Noel Blackman.

Sears, who said that she used to work at the Blackman residence as a cook, pleaded not guilty to the charge. 

She was granted bail in the sum of $60,000 and the matter was adjourned until February15.
