Dear Editor,
I empathize with the families of the two young women who died by drowning. It is heartbreaking. I can only imagine. They had their lives ahead and suddenly it was taken away from them in the most unfortunate way. And for the survivors, I wish them the very best. I know they would never erase those tragic moments from their lives. That is what tragedy does.
Editor, Feather’s Beach is a beautiful beach, but over the years it has had it’s share of accidental deaths. Just like the other beaches located on the Essequibo Coast, many find comfort going to those beaches to relax, or have a fun time with family and friends.
Editor, while we could never anticipate when these accidents would occur, I would like to caution persons, especially those who cannot swim, not to go into the water. It is a harsh truth but if you can’t swim, avoid the waters and don’t allow no one to force you to do what you don’t want to do.
I hope something would be done in order to reduce drowning incidents at these beaches. The beaches across our beautiful country should be to enjoy. Condolences to the grieving relatives and for those who are hospitalized I wish you a speedy recovery.
Sincerely,
Yannason Duncan
