Castrol Strikers (CS) defeated the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) 3-1 when the Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA) Senior Men’s League continued on Tuesday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
The contest started poorly for CS as they lost the first set 20-25. However, a response occurred in the second set as CS prevailed 25-23 to level the score at 1-1.
CS then stormed to a 2-1 advantage as they secured the third set by a 25-13 score. The result was then completed as CS edged the fourth set 27-25.
Meanwhile, on Monday at the same venue, Young Achievers (YA) overcame GDF 3-2. YA raced into the initial lead as the first set ended 25-22. However, GDF leveled the contest at 1-1 after winning the second set 25-23.
The army unit then seized a 2-1 lead, following a dominant third set, winning by a 25-17 score. Nonetheless, YA responded in the fourth stanza to restore parity to proceedings at 2-2, as they prevailed 25-15.
The come-from-behind win was then sealed in the fifth and final set as YA edged GDF 17-15. The event continues at the same venue tomorrow.
