Senior Superintendent of Police and attorney-at-law Edmond Cooper has died. He was 47.
The Sunday Stabroek understands that Cooper passed away sometime yesterday morning following a period of illness.
Reports are that Cooper fell ill sometime in 2021, months after returning from Trinidad where he was studying. He subsequently fell into a coma and later reportedly started to show signs of recovery.
Cooper served the Guyana Police Force for some 30 years. During his tenure he held numerous positions including Divisional Commander. For half of his career, Cooper was also a Court Prosecutor.
Upon the completion of his studies, Cooper was admitted to the Bar in November, 2020 to practice law.
