Castrol Strikers overcame newcomers Alpha 3-2 when the Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA) Senior Men’s League continued Friday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Alpha stormed into the early lead winning the first set 25-20. However, Castrol Strikers restored parity to the proceedings by clinching the second set 25-14. Castrol Strikers then raced ahead 2-1 following a 25-15 showing in the third set.
Alpha responded to force a fifth set by winning the fourth set 26-24.
Nevertheless, Castrol Strikers clinched the result when they won the final set 15-13.
The tournament continues today at the same venue with a lone fixture at 13:00hrs, as Castrol Strikers will match skills against Eagles.
