A young Port Mourant motorcyclist died on Friday last after he lost control and crashed into a parked vehicle along the Alness Public Road. He was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Dead is Noel Chanan also known as “Mustapha”, 21, of Lot 234 Ankerville, Port Mourant, Corentyne.
According to information gathered, Chanan was riding motorcycle, CJ 6527, when he reportedly lost control and crashed into motor car, PHH 1266, along the Alness Public Road around 7 am on Friday.
Stabroek News was told that Chanan was allegedly lying on the motorcycle with his hands on the handlebar and feet extended to the rear without a safety helmet. He was said to be going at a fast rate and was in the process of negotiating a right turn when he lost control of his motorcycle and collided head-on with the motor car.
As a result of the collision, Chanan was flung off his motorcycle and suffered major injuries.
He was picked up in an unconscious condition by the police and taken to the Port Mourant hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
