The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) officially released its 2022 Year in Review catalogue, which summarised the activities and events staged by the association during the period following the lifting of the Covid-19 restrictions.
This was disclosed by a correspondence from the entity. According to the correspondence, this year’s edition comprises 60 pages and features a collection of memories and key milestones realised by the entity.
Amongst the major local accomplishments included: (May – November) Regional Association Leagues, (June – August), Blue Water Girls U15, Senior Women’s Developmental League, and Kool Kids Summer Festival, (July – October) Namilco Boys U17, (October – January) Tiger Rentals Boys U13 and One Guyana President’s Cup.
On the international circuit, the highlights were (January) Golden Jaguars International Friendlies against Barbados and Suriname, (February) Concacaf Women’s U20 Championship, and Lady Jaguars participation in the Concacaf Women’s Championship, (March) Golden Jaguars International Friendlies against Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago, (April) Golden Jaguars International Friendlies against French Guiana and UEFA U17 Youth Challenge, (June) Concacaf Nations League, (July) Concacaf Girl’s U15 and (August) Concacaf Girls U17 Qualifiers and Championship and Guyana U14 International Friendlies.
“The special edition is packed with striking photos and stories capturing memorable moments over a 12-month period, commencing with the Lady Jaguars player Annalisa Vincent securing a four-year scholarship to Graceland University in the USA, and including other activities such as:, the national teams’ international matches, the launch of the FIFA Football For School Programme, and the prestigious One Guyana President’s Cup”, the release stated.
President Wayne Forde said, “The Year in Review summarises how the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), with the support of our Members, the Government of Guyana, players, fans and corporate Guyana rose to meet the challenges of 2022 by adapting to achieve our football development goals.”
