Eagles overcame a two set deficit to defeat Young Achievers 3-2 when the Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA) senior men’s league continued Tuesday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
The contest started poorly for the experienced Eagles outfit as they lost the opening set 21-25. The West Demerara-based Young Achievers outfit continued their dominance as Eagles went down in the second set 22-25.
However, Young Achievers’ lead was reduced in the pivotal third set with Eagles fighting back before d prevailing 25-19. The Eagles side soared once more in the fourth set, restoring parity to proceedings (2-2) after winning 25-18.
The come-from-behind win was completed in the fifth and final set which Eagles won 15-11. The tournament continues today at the same venue with a lone fixture. The Guyana Defence Force will lock horns with Eagles from 20:00hrs.
