Commander for Regional Police Division #4B, Senior Superintendent Mahendra Singh along with Deputy Commander #4B Ravindra Stanley, earlier this week coordinated a meeting with members of the Perseverance/Providence community on the East Bank of Demerara.
A release yesterday from the police said that the aim was to bridge the gap between the Police Force and residents.
The Deputy Commander interacted with residents and children from the area and listened to their concerns and the issues affecting their community.
Stanley, emphasized the importance of having a vibrant and effective Community Policing Group which will aid in the effective fighting of crime and fostering a safer community for all, the release said.
A gun-firing incident in the Providence Police Station last December has raised questions about policing in the area. The matter remains unresolved and the aggrieved family has been calling for justice.
