Early season athletic rivalry continues tomorrow with the staging of the Athletic Association of Guyana’s second Development Meet at the National Track and Field Centre.
Athletes are scheduled to get into the blocks from 10:00hrs.
According to President of the AAG, Aubrey Hutson, the event is geared towards getting the competitive juices once again flowing of the athletes who have plans of excelling here and abroad.
The first development meet was held on January 21 at the same venue at Edinburg where Keliza Smith, Ezekiel Newton and Attoya Harvey were among the gold medal performers.
Hutson told this publication in excess of 100 athletes are scheduled to compete.
“Over 125 athletes will get their juices flowing with an objective of representing Guyana at the CARIFTA Games, South American U-20 Championships, World Senior Championships and Pan Am Games,” said Hutson yesterday.
Hutson added that the events to be contested tomorrow will be the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 5000m and all the throws along with the long jump, high jump and triple jump.
He said that there will be the CARIFTA Trials from February 18-19 at the same venue.
