A stellar 2022 highlighted by three gold medals and a Pro Card at the Central America and Caribbean (CAC) Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships was capped with the Sportswoman (runner up) of-the-Year Award for IFBB Elite Pro Rosanna Fung.
The statuesque bodybuilding gem, along with the other standout sportsmen and women, were rewarded for their exploits at the National Awards ceremony last Sunday.
Fung told this publication yesterday that she was ‘humbled and honoured’ to achieve such a prestigious accolade.
“To be totally honest when I heard I was nominated, I was extremely humbled and honoured to have even been considered for the award and upon receiving the position of runner up, those feelings only multiplied.”
Fung stated that she does envision herself winning the coveted Sportswoman-of -the-Year award one day as she intends to continue to make the Golden Arrowhead fly high on the international stage.
“I do see myself winning the award one day, however, I don’t do any of what I do for the awards, I do it to prove something to myself. I’m always in competition with my best package and as it just so happened my last best was good enough to win me the position of runner-up, so I can’t wait to see what my upgraded package will bring me this year.”
The effervescent 23-year-old disclosed that she plans on ‘dipping’ her toes into the Pro League in the 2023 season.
“For the 2023 season, I will be dipping my toe in the Wellness Elite Pro League as I will be competing in at least two Pro shows. The first being the Roger Boyce Pro Show in Barbados and the second is yet to be decided.”
Fung, who is sponsored by Fitness Express, extended heartfelt gratitude for the individuals and the entities that have played an important role in her meteoric rise to stardom and success.
“I would like to thank my sponsors, without them none of this would have been possible. Special mention to Fitness Express and Space Gym, my family and dear friends for supporting me in every way when I needed them. My partner Tariq for being my rock and acting in any capacity I needed along my prep whether it be my coach, my emotional support system, my nutritionist, my mindset mentor and of course my loving shoulder to cry on.
Last but not least, I’d like to thank the GBBFF and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport for their roles in my success story,” Fung concluded.
