Sandford Williams, a 50-year-old US-based Guyanese who went missing two weeks ago after he abandoned his trip on the Lethem trail to Georgetown, was found by public-spirited citizens.
His relative, Eon Williams told Stabroek News that someone saw Williams on Monday afternoon and reported to the police. The ranks collected him and he was later transported to Georgetown. Family members were reunited with him on Tuesday morning.
The family was informed that the bus transporting the passengers stopped after a truck encountered difficulties on the trail. Sandford began acting in a strange manner, exited the bus, and went into the clump of bushes. The bus driver and passengers tried to talk to him and he refused to speak. A search party was later launched but he was nowhere to be found.
The bus was heading to Georgetown but at the time of the incident it was in the vicinity of Kurupukari and Frenchman Hill.
