Alex Arjoon, Kathy Ten-Pow and Shawn Simpson recorded contrasting wins when the BCQS Masters Squash Championship continued on Friday evening at the Georgetown Club Facility on Camp Street.
In the men’s 30-44 division, Barbadian Simpson downed the lone female competitor of the section Nicolette Fernandes 11-8, 17-19, 11-3, 11-6. On the other hand, Arjoon bested Daniel Ince 11-8, 11-4, 11-13, 11-8, In the women’s 35-years-and-over division, Ten-Pow defeated Hazel-Anne Sandy of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines 11-2, 11-1, 11-1, while
In other results, Jason van Dijk downed Lee Fung-A-Fat, 11-8, 11-7, 11-5 whilst Nicholas Narain defeated Javid Rahaman 11-2, 9-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11-4 and Regan Pollard dismissed Jonathan Antczak 11-5, 11-9, 11-9 in the men’s 30-44 division. Continuing in the same section, Javed Ali downed Dane Pereira 12-10, 11-2, 11-4.
In the women’s 35-years-and-over, Tian Edwards squeaked past Anna Perreira of Canada 11-8, 12-10, 7-11, 8-11, 11-8. In the men’s 45-54 section, Peter Pirtheesingh of Trinidad and Tobago overcame Barbadian Don Benn 6-11, 12-10, 7-11, 11-5, 11-13.
In the men’s 55-64 section, Brian Edwards downed Rob Edwards 13-11, 14-12, 11-8, Mark Sealy of Barbados crushed Joseph Mekdeci 11-1, 11-3, 11-6 and Narendra Singh dismantled Sanjay Amin 11-7, 11-3, 12-10. Also recording wins in the division were Trinidadian John Holley who overcame Marlon White of Barbados 6-11, 4-11, 11-7, 11-7, 13-11 and Barbadian Peter Harris who defeated Lloyd Fung-A-Fat 11-8, 11-1, 11-5.
In the men’s 65-years-and-over, Orson Simpson of Barbados defeated Winston Findlay of USVI 11-8, 11-3, 12-10. Up to press time, the respective division finals were underway.
