Fruta Conquerors, Slingerz FC and Dynamic FC secured victories when the East Coast Mash Cup Football Championship continued Friday evening at the Golden Grove Community Centre ground.
Fruta Conquerors bested Airy Hall 2 – 1. The contest was essentially sealed in the first half as Jermin Padmore bagged a double in the space of 12 minutes to give the Tucville-based outfit what proved to be an unassailable lead.
Padmore opened the scoring in the 21st minute, uncorking a lobbed left-footed effort from 24 yards outside the 18-yard area which sailed into the back of the net. His second conversion was similar to his first, curling back past the custodian, this time from 23 yards outside the penalty box.

Eion Abel recorded a consolation goal in the 54th minute, stabbing into the back of the net following a scrimmage inside the area.
Meanwhile, Slingerz FC downed Paradise 2-0, the conversions, coming in the space of five minutes, settled the outcome. Deon Alfred opened the scoring in the 15th minute, cutting from the flank before firing his effort past the goalkeeper.
Five minutes later Dexroy Adams made his presence felt, capping off a neatly worked passing combination inside the penalty box with a finish into the far corner. In another fixture, Dynamic FC edged Buxton United 1-0. Tyrice Dennis settled the outcome in the 34th minute, racing away from the backline to latch onto a through pass and finish beyond the reach of the advancing goalkeeper.
Dennis was then sent off in the 59th minute after receiving his second yellow card for diving in the penalty area. The home side eventually held on despite their numerical handicap to seal the win.
The winner of the tournament will pocket $500,000 and the championship trophy, whilst the second, third and fourth place finishers will collect $250,000, $150,000, and $100,000 respectively and the corresponding accolade.
The tournament continues today at the same venue with another round of matches. Ann’s Grove will oppose Fruta Conquerors at 18:00hrs whilst Mahaica will oppose Dynamic at 20:00hrs.
