Sportsman of the Year Desmond Amsterdam will this evening receive his Boxer-of-the-Year award when the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) hosts its 2022 awards ceremony at the Mirage Lounge, Albert and Third Streets, Alberttown.
This evening’s gala ceremony will take place from 6pm and will honour the boxers, officials and others who represented the boxing association with distinction allowing it to walk away with the National Sports Commission’s association of the year award.
According to GBA President Steve Ninvalle, the most outstanding
performers on the fistic scene will receive prizes.
Apart from Amsterdam, Terrence Poole MS (Best Coach) and Jermain Craig (Best Referee/Judge) are also among the awardees.
“This is a humble and custody attempt, a storied tradition by the association to reward the individuals, athletes and officials to be specific, who have performed remarkably and beyond the call of duty in the prior year. While the marquee presentations will include the Best Boxer, the Best Coach and the Best Official awards, several other notable accolades will also be presented at the gala,” said Ninvalle.
