With golfers taking to the green for the first time in the 2023 season the rust was evident among the 29 competitors in the Top Brandz inaugural golf tournament, but Ayube Subhan stood tall to cart off the spoils Saturday at the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC).
With most of the golfers struggling, Subhan showed his class, finishing with the only sub-par score on the difficult day a gross 82 and a net 68.
He was followed by Jaipaul Sukhman who grossed 80 and netted 70 to win the best gross award.
Rounding out the podium finishers was Miguel Yunis who grossed 88 for a net of 71.
The Nearest to Pin winner was Arnold Deo while Gavin Todd had the Longest Drive.
Subhan was also awarded 10 points towards the overall aggregate which sees the top three accumulators being awarded with free entries to October’s Guyana Open and Suriname Invitational tournaments while fourth and fifth place finishers will earn free entries to November’s Macorp Challenge. Sukhman secured eight points and Yunis six. Maurice Solomon and Patrick Prashad had four and three points respectively.
Chet Bowling, Brian Hackett, Todd, Maurice Deo and Miguel Oviedo all secured two points.
