The Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) is in preparation mode as cricket in the capital city is set to return this weekend, according to competitions committee chairman, Shaun Massiah.
The 2023 year of cricket will bowl off with several fixtures on Saturday in the GCA/Atlantic Marine Supplies Inc, Suzuki Motorcycles second division T20 tournament.
Georgetown Cricket Club, Bourda, will see Bel Air Rubis taking on Sophia from 9.30 hours followed by the hosts battling Diplomats at 13.30 hours. Over at Everest Cricket Club on Carifesta Avenue, Malteenoes Sports Club will go toe-to-toe with Third Class in the morning followed by Everest facing Guyana National Industrial Cooperation in the afternoon.
Queen’s College will host three matches as Transport Sports Club and Guyana Defence Force in the morning on pitch one at 09.30 hours. Pitch one will then see Police Sports Club facing Queen’s College in the afternoon. Transport will then play their second match of the day at 13.30 hours on pitch two against Positive Foundation Agricola.
Massiah is urging all captains to submit their full squad in advance in order to have it entered into the online scoring application.
There will be no matches Sunday due to the bi-annual General Meeting for umpires in Guyana.
