Transport Sports Club (TSC), Police Sports Club (PSC) and Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) recorded their first wins of the 2023 season as the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) started the year with the Atlantic Marine Supplies Suzuki motorcycles second division T20 tournament over the weekend.
At the Queen’s College ground, Transport defeated Positive Foundation Agricola by 102 runs. After winning the toss and electing to bat first in the afternoon match up, Transport raced to 165 for five in 15-overs-a-side affair. Agricola struggled to 63 for eight in their turn at the crease. Transport were indebted to Shamal Angel who rocketed to 93 not out from 46 balls, hitting six fours and eight sixes, three of which came from a 23-run final over. Angel shared an unbeaten sixth wicket partnership of 59 with Rafael Singh (five) with 61 runs scored from the final three overs.
Extras accounted for 21 while Adrian Hinds supported with 17 and Myhiem Khan, 14. Dante DeAbreu took 3-39 for Agricola.
In the chase, Nasurdeen Ally top scored with 30 from 34 balls. His innings was highlighted by two sixes and one four. Neil Hutton was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 12 as no other batsman passed four. Extras tallied 12. Khan returned to take 2-18, removing Shawn Thompson and Andel Manoharlall with successive deliveries. At the same venue, Police recorded a 92-run victory over the hosts. Asked to bat, Police notched up 227 for seven in their allotted 20 overs while QC were contained to 135 for eight in their quota.
Lennox Andrews taught the schoolboys a lesson, hammering nine sixes and six fours during his 48-ball 98. Andrews was especially brutal in the 13th over which accounted for 34 runs and saw eight no-balls and a wide being bowled.
He added 62 for the fourth wicket with Shemroy Kendall (17) as well as 52 for the second wicket with Troy Benn (31).

Extras complimented with 30 while Dwain Dick and Kelvin Leitch made 19 and 14 runs respectively. Vickash Jaikaran took 2-28 while Gary Ross and Tuen Hicks took 2-29 each.
In reply, Jonte Thomas resisted the regular fall of wickets with 46 from 17 balls, smashing six sixes and a four during his innings. His only support came from Ronaldo McGarrell with 26 from 18 balls and Hicks with 22 from 27 balls. Dick returned to grab 5-9 while Leitch took 2-40.
In the final match of the day, hosts GCC, brushed aside Diplomats by 81 runs. Winning the toss and batting, GCC posted 147 for seven in their 20 overs while containing Diplomats to 66 for six in their innings.
Mavindra Dindyal top scored with 77 not out from 56 balls having hit two sixes and six fours. Thaddeus Lovell chipped in with 23 from 16 balls while Martin Pestano-Belle made 16. Extras also tallied 16 as Rickford Mohammed took 3-17 and Quancy Cummings bagged 2-30.
In Diplomats’ innings, Dellon Collins top scored with 22 while Mohamed and Nigel Simpson made 12 and 10 respectively.
Off-spinner, Kishna Singh took 2-8 and was supported by his captain, Devon Lord with 2-22.
