The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) squeaked past Castrol Strikers by a 3-2 score-line when the Demerara Volleyball Association (DVA) Senior Men’s League continued on Wednesday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Castrol Strikers stormed into the early lead as the first set concluded 25-13. However, the army unit restored parity to proceedings after clinching the second stanza 25-15. The back and forth nature of the contest continued in the third set, as Castrol Strikers then raced ahead at 2-1 following a 25-16 victory. In similar fashion, GDF responded to force a fifth set, as they won 25-17 in the fourth stanza to level the match at 2-2. The come from behind win was then sealed as GDF won the final set 15-10.
The tournament continues on Monday at the same venue with a lone fixture at 20:00hrs, as Castrol Strikers will match skills against Eagles.
