A 26 year-old man named Desmond Griffith, called ‘Andrew Blacks’ was allegedly shot and injured on Saturday at about 12:20 hours by Damion Morgan, a 24 year-old, during a confrontation. A police press release said that the incident occurred at Lot 4 Smithfield New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Morgan, according to the statement, was assisting his father with spraying a vehicle, when Griffith, of Forth Ordi-nance, Housing Scheme, East Canjie, Berbice, came from behind the building with a cutlass threatening to chop Morgan.
Morgan escaped and returned with a small black gun, discharging three rounds in the direction of Griffith causing him to receive injuries. Morgan made good his escape. Griffith was later taken to New Amsterdam Hospital, where he was admitted as a patient in the Accident and Emergency Unit. No arrests were made and investigations are continuing.
