Briton John’s purple patch on the saddle continues.
One week after soloing to victory in the Beacon Cafe 35-lap ‘crit’ inside the National Park, John took his talents onto the open roads yesterday and dominated the Forbes Burnham Memorial event.
The United We Stand biker, led breakaway mates, Romello Crawford and Aaron Newton onto the podium for the annual fixture which was staged from CARIFESTA Avenue to Belfield and back.
John won in 1h:12m.38s for the 30-mile race in which 27 riders faced the starter in brilliant sunshine.
Robin Persaud outsprinted the remnants of the peloton to finish fourth with Alex Mendes and Curtis Dey closely behind his saddle.
Newton earned the top junior award ahead of Alex Leung while the resurgent Persaud was the first place finisher among the veteran U-50 riders.
Ian Jackson rode home with the trophy for the top veteran Over-50. He was followed by arch rival, Talim Shaw.
