Devon Brutus, a 24-year-old painter of Lot 78 Middle Walk, Buxton, East Coast Demerara was charged yesterday with the following offences:
(1) Causing Death by Dangerous Driving
(2) Being an unlicenced driver
(3) Breach of Insurance
The police say that he appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Fabayo Azore where he pleaded not guilty to all three of the charges. Bail was granted in the sum of $1,050,000. The matter was postponed to 11 April, 2023 for report and fixture.
Brutus is the driver who was involved in the fatal incident that occurred on Wednesday 15 February, 2023 on the Enmore Public Road, which resulted in the death of Samantha Moffatt, a 41-year-old female vendor of Haslington New Scheme, East Coast Demerara.
