The Nigerian man who the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) had tracked down based on a package that his accomplice was trying to mail through the Guyana Post Office (GPO), was yesterday sentenced to four years imprisonment after admitting to the charge.
Gift Obioha, 26, of Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown made his appearance before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court where he was charged with the offence of aiding to traffic narcotics on February 22.
Obioha pleaded guilty to the charge and was sentenced to four years behind bars and ordered to pay a fine of $723,000.
