Briton John continued his dominance on the local circuit by winning the Flying Ace Cycling Club Republic Day 50-mile road race on Thursday.
The United We Stand wheelsmen led the 22-man race, which was sponsored by De People’s Pawn Shop and Money When You Need It Most, around New Amsterdam from the get-go and broke away in a one-man platoon to stop the clock at one hour, 27 minutes and 30 seconds (01.27.30s).
The race pedaled off from Rainbow Beer Garden on Republic Road and Charles Place with the riders turning onto Vryheid Street. They then headed into Main Street and made their way into Tacama Turn before finishing at Republic Road.
