Minister of Home Affairs Robeson Benn yesterday morning attended the Lamaha Park Community Policing Group (CPG) fundraiser activity to support community development.
Minister Benn conducted a walk-through of the community, where several issues were raised by members of the community group. He took the time to explain to the group the value of the community policing in bridging the gap between the public and the police, which contributes to reducing crime.
He said there is need for policing groups to help develop methods to foster community involvement and provide assistance. He commended the group for their commitment to the neighbourhood and willingness to take on the difficult task.
The minister stressed that in some areas, much effort is needed to eradicate the prejudice and unhealthy behaviours of residents.
