After a three-year hiatus, competitive cycling is set to make its return to Bartica on Sunday.
According to Guyana Cycling News’ Facebook page, the United We Stand Cycle Club will host its second ‘One Guyana’ Bartica Cycling Classic.
Set to roll off at 09:30am, the lucrative event is geared towards attracting the cream of the nation’s riders to the ‘Gateway to the Interior’.
Briton John, who has dominated this season so far, winning the last three races, will be eager to defend the title he won at the inaugural staging in 2019.
The likes of Romello Crawford, Chris Griffith, Robin Persaud, Alex Mendes, Curtis Dey and Aaron Newton will also be gunning for the top podium
spot.
Free registration will be allowed for juniors, juveniles and ladies. For the masters and seniors, the registration cost is $1,000.
Registration can be done at the Professional Key Shop on Carmichael Street, or Chin Chan Cycle Store, Robb Street.
RACE SEQUENCE:
•Ladies, juniors and juveniles will start at 9:30am and will be riding for 45 minutes with an additional two laps.
* Masters under 45 and masters over 45 will be riding together one hour with an additional two laps.
•The seniors will be riding for one hour and 45 minutes with an additional two laps. Other cyclists who wish to take part in the seniors event will be permitted to.
There will also be a citizen-race with the villagers, the Mayor of Bartica, the Deputy Mayor, the Regional Chairman, the Deputy Regional Chairman, REO, and club leaders.
The post also stated that Team United is inviting the Minister of Sport, the Honorable Charles Ramson Jr., along with the Director of Sport, Steve Ninvalle to grace the event with their presence.
