Dear Editor,
In the course of my over fifty years service in the teaching profession, I enjoyed above all my attachment to Saraswati Vidya Niketan a school of private status of Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara.
Having served the school as a teacher of Additional Mathematics and CAPE: Pure Mathematics: Units 1 and 2 from 2012-2019, I was afforded the opportunity to grow professionally with daily rich interactions with generally disciplined students and committed members of staff including the Principal Swami Aksharananda, the best of my religious role models, humane, loving, and rare, in my opinion.
I recall on the few days before I assumed duty at this school, how many, including officials of the Ministry of Education, transmitted to me derogatory remarks about the school seeking to dissuade me from serving the school.
Had I listened, I would have lost experiences related to a school founded on moral principles and rules, established collaboratively involving students and the staff.
When an official asked me how I was managing at the school. I responded with a single word, “Paradise.”
I know this missive will elicit comments far away from my experiences to paint a negative picture of this school. I do not mind others contradicting me. I speak on the basis of first hand experiences.
Thank you Saraswati Vidya Niketan! May you continue to serve!
Yours faithfully,
Krishna Nand Prasad
