Eagles overcame Castrol Strikers by a 3-2 score line on Monday evening at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue to seal a berth to the Demerara Volleyball Association Senior Men’s League final.
In what can only be described as a five set thriller, the Eagles outfit soared into the early 1-0 advantage as they won the first set 25-21.
However, Castrol Strikers responded in the second set to restore parity to proceedings at 1-1, after they prevailed 27-25.
Eagles retook the initiative in the third set, outscoring their foe 25 to 21 to clinch a 2-1 heading into the fourth stanza.
The trend of the contest continued in the fourth set with Castrol Strikers equalizing the match at 2-2 following a 25-20 score to force a fifth and final set.
However, Eagles was able to secure the hard-fought victory as they won the final set 15-11.
Eagles will now await the winner of the Guyana Defence Force and Young Achievers fixture in the second semifinal.
