The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) sealed their final’s berth in the Demerara Volleyball Association Senior Men’s League, defeating Young Achievers on Thursday evening at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
The army unit prevailed 3-1. GDF stormed into the lead with the first set ending 25-18. The army side then doubled their advantage, scoring 25 points while restricting Achievers to 23 in the second set.
However, Achievers fought back in the third set to reduce the deficit, prevailing 25-21.
Nonetheless, GDF secured the result and a place in the final after winning the fourth by a comfortable 25-16 score.
They will now meet Eagles for the coveted championship on Thursday at the same venue while Achievers will battle Castrol Strikers in the third place playoff.
