Twenty-two-year-old Jarod Granville of Henrietta on the Essequibo Coast was on Friday ordered to pay a fine of $10,000 after he pleaded guilty to a drug trafficking charge. Granville appeared virtually at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Esther Sam who read the charge to him that he trafficked 10.3 grams of cannabis. After admitting to the offence, Granville was ordered to pay a fine of $10,000, or in default, be imprisoned for one month.
Stabroek News had reported that on Wednesday, police from the Regional Division # 2 acting on certain information received, visited Granville’s business establishment in Anna Regina and found Granville holding a plastic bag whose contents appeared to be cannabis. He was taken to the Anna Regina police station pending further investigations.
