Georgetown ensured they kept the silverware when the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) U15 Inter-Association tournament ended after beating East Coast by three wickets at the Buxton Community Centre Ground, East Coast Demerara recently in a low-scoring affair.

East Coast won the toss and opted to take first strike in home conditions but could only manage 107 all out in 34.4 of their allotted 40 overs. Georgetown duly reached 109 for seven in 31 overs. East Coast’s Munesh Outar played the lone hand with the bat as he smacked two sixes and four fours during his 68-ball top score of 46 before he was run out by Anex Hamnarine.

Extras had the next best tally of 31 and no other batsman reached double figures. Hamnarine was the pick of the bowlers for Georgetown, returning 3-7 from 4.4 overs. Support came from Emmanuel Lewis with 2-27 from five overs while Darwin La Rose, Brandon Henry and Reyaz Latif bagged one wicket each.

Despite the sub-par total, Georgetown’s chase was not as smooth as they would have liked as Navin Narine removed both openers who failed to score. East Coast chipped away at the batting order but the runs was never going to be enough.

Brandon Henry top scored with 27. His 59-ball innings featured four boundaries. Trilok Nanan complemented Henry’s efforts with 24 from 42 balls, his innings laced with two boundaries. Extras added up to 24 while La Rose (13), Lewis (11) and Latif (10) had useful cameos.

Mickel Sharma returned 2-9 while Outar grabbed 2-10 and Narine ended with 2-16.
