Women’s Football Association (WFA) President Andrea Johnson is currently attending a FIFA Women in Football Leadership Programme in Switzerland.
The programme, which commenced Monday, runs until Friday.
According to a release from the Guyana Football Federation (GFF), the five-day forum, which is staged in partnership with UEFA, is being hosted in Lausanne, Geneva, and focusses on promoting women in leadership capacities within the sport.
Approximately 36 women are participating in the workshop which will include specialist leadership training and one-on-one coaching. This is the fourth such seminar which was birthed in 2018.
“I consider it a high honour and privilege to represent the GFF at this prestigious FIFA/UEFA programme. I am indeed humbled by the confidence placed in me by President Wayne Forde and the GFF Council and will endeavour to represent Guyana well and use the knowledge gained to contribute more and build on the tremendous progress we have already made in the growth of women’s football in Guyana,” Johnson was quoted as saying in the release.
“The GFF remains committed to developing the women’s game through continuous investment, training programmes for players and officials at all levels and national and international tournaments”, she added.
