An East Coast Demerara man was remanded to prison after he was read two charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
The defendant, 30-year-old Marlon Dindiyal-Martin, of Lot 276 Foulis, East Coast Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the two charges which alleged that on March 4 at Republic and Garnett streets, Newtown, Kitty, without a firearm licence being in force at the time, he had in his possession a 7.62mm CZ pistol. He also had at the time, six live rounds of 7.62 ammunition for which he was not the holder of a firearm licence.
